Partners in Literacy is vision driven.
Our mission is to create communities of readers in schools.
We only need enough money so we can achieve that goal.
Before the pandemic, we asked schools to pay for our services. The world has changed since 2020. We no longer ask for schools to pay. This allows us to give services which balance with our energy, our volunteers and our talents.
Partners in Literacy is like a hermit crab. It has no office. It occupies whatever space schools can offer. This means there is no overhead.
These are our volunteer programs this year: Stedman Elementary School (second grade and kindergarten), Bill Roberts (6th graders), St. Elizabeth (second and third graders), and Boston P-8 (fourth graders). We are the generative and sustaining force behind the Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Award. We have been the attentive owners and stewards of the Little Free Library at Monaco Elementary School since 2016.
The only money that comes in is from donors and small grants. Those funds all go directly to programming and books.
